The ending of 2010, the beginning of 2011. Its been a crazy couple of months for our family. In August we packed up and headed 1500 miles south from PA to Texas! We have no family here but we quickly made friends with our neighbors, David & Jamie and Liz & Jason. They've really made the transition here a much easier one. We have spent every single weekend since the first weekend of August with them. We really get along with them and it only made sense that we'd close out 2010 with them.
David and Jamie held our little "party" at their house. Good food, good friends, good alcohol and some board games. Can you get much better than that? And we didn't have to worry about any drunk drivers since we were directly across the street.
My first picture for this Project 365 is the five of us. We rarely have a picture taken of all of us. And the ones that we do get are usually pretty awful. But this time we've succeeded in getting a good one. Austin is 14, Riley is 10 and the "baby" Matthew turned 3 in July.
As is a Pennsylvania tradition, Jason made Pork and Sauerkraut for New Year's dinner. I can't handle the smell of it and the only way I'd ever eat that nasty stuff is if the world came to an end and I had to choose between eating my toenails and eating that. It'd be a hard decision. Anyway just as a funny aside, Matthew told us he was eating "Port Triceratops". Couldn't help but laugh at that one and its one of those crazy things you just want to remember about having a three year old in the house.
Later on on the 1st the 5 of us, plus one of Austin's friends from school, went to see the Houston Aeros hockey team beat the San Antonio Rampage. It was my first time at a professional sporting event of any kind and I absolutely loved it. My friend (and realtor) Kristin had purchased the 6 tickets for us for Christmas. Such a sweet present from a sweet person. The only thing that would have been icing on that cake was if the present included free babysitting for Matthew! He did well but he's three and it was a 3 hour game. You can imagine how it went.
So that's the stuff that I'm gonna remember from our first day of 2011. Now to catch up on the rest of the past 4 days of this year...
